The winners of the annual Chairman’s Trophy tournaments were awarded at the Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Club (DGC) over the weekend. DGC chairman Yusufu Mushi presented trophies to the various winners in the ceremony held at the club’s cricket ground on Saturday. During the event players competed in sports such as golf, tennis, squash, cricket and snooker. The best cricket all-rounder award went to Gulpar Singh, Yakesh Patel (best batsman), Reshmi Kaichura (best bowler) and Vaibhav Patel (best up and coming junior player). Men’s golf winners were Brigadier General Bedford Chabuka (overall winner of four under per net), Hamis Ally (A division winner), Fatma Katibi (ladies winner) and Viviane Mwaulambo (ladies second winner). Other golfers who were awarded trophies for performing well are US Ambassador to Tanzania Michael Retzer, Said Nkya, Brian Kapito, Shan Kinswaga and Ally Shariff. Tennis winners were Billy Makoi, John Njau, Brian Mallya, Kazim Khimji, Sarah Mufuruki, Edna Batengas, Kaltik Kapool, Patra Papadimitrio, Sebastian Mtupili and Alex Mushi. Squash winners were Kelvin Stander, Henry Herman, Major General Joseph Lesulie and Colin Scot.

Hassan Ndedego emerged the overall winner of the PriceWaterHouseCoopers (PWC) client golf championship at the Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Club (DGC) over the weekend. ...........title with 76 net to defeat Brian Kapito on count back. Former President of the Tanzania Ladies Golf Union (TLGU) Priscilla Karobia, who is the fifteen handicapper, emerged the overall winner in ladies category with one over per net, while DGC Lady Captain Haemyung Rhee also played the same handicap to finish the ladies second winner with three over per net. DGC regular golfer Mussa Mashamba was the gross winner by finishing his rounds with one over per net. Mashamba played five handicap.
The tournament, which was sponsored and organised by the PriceWaterHouseCoopers (PWC), attracted 100 golfers who competed in the 18-hole stroke play. The one day championship aimed at encouraging PWC clients and staff to play the game as well as enabling them to meet together in an environment that is not for work. The winners received prizes at a special ceremony held at the club’s function hall.
